DIY: Ombre picture frame

I love ombre. I really do. Sometimes it seems like the trend is dying out and those still rocking it are kind of tacky. The classic ombre (smooth, seamless gradient) is what I'm talking about, not the stripes in different colors. Whoever decided that that would count as ombre needs a head check.

I think ombre is a great way to add color when decorating because you can add two colors to tie into your pillows or art or couches or whatever. I have a huge tapestry of a jungle on my wall and it has a ton of green. I don't love green and don't have a lot of it around so I wanted to add something green.

The process of ombre is sort of self explanatory. Basically all you do is choose 2 spray paints and paint opaque towards the outer parts and mrs sheerly and thin towards the center.

I took the paper insert out of a picture frame and taped the back to a box. Spray painting is best done on something off the ground so I set it on an old beer box but seriously anything will work. The paper  just needs to be elevated.

I started spraying the green on one end.

You can see how it fade from heavy on the outside to lighter on the inside.

I continued to add more paint until it was half covered.

Now start from the opposite side and repeat the same process.

So now we have green fading from heavy to light on one end and blue grey fading from heavy to light from the other side.
Once you have both side completed like the photo above, there should be a blank-ish area in the center. You're going to want to go back and forth from each color and spray the green into the blue then the blue into the green.

You want to make sure that the colors are mixed in the center and don't have a rough line.

DIY ombre flower vases

WHAT?! OMG is this real? Am I actually doing a new DIY post. It has has been 1, 2, no 3 no... it has been a very long time since I have done a DIY post. Don't worry, I'll still be keeping up with my OOTD posts but I will be getting back into makeup reviews, DIYs and that sort of stuff. I MISS MAKING THINGS. In my heart and mind, there are never enough Pinterest DIYs.

I have a bunch of these little flower vases (filled with faux flower... who can keep real ones alive?) on my table in my room. I have 2 ombre ones... I'll show you the other one soon enough. This was so so easy to make.

All I needed was a tall glass. You can use old candle jars, or jelly jars or really anything. You also need spray paint and some wind. What? wind? Yes wind.

As you can see from the photos, I sprayed the glass upside down and closer to it then further away as I got further up. You will need to stand in a way that the wind will carry the spray paint onto the glass. For the very top portion, I stood super far away, but close enough for it to hit, and let the wind take it.

Who knew ombre was that easy? Not me until I figured it out.

♡Here is the finished project. Hope you love it. Thanks for reading

OH AND PS IF YOU'RE READING THIS STAY TUNED BECAUSE I HAVE A TON MORE DIYS COMING SOON.

Diy Valentine's Day decorative jars

I haven't done a home decor in a long time. (check out my glitter skull decor here) I like to add a few things to my room for each holiday. For Valentine's Day, I made this little storage jar out of an old candle. This is really simple to make and can be used to hold any small items.

To do this you will need a cleaned out candle. I have a tutorial on how to do this here  Everything else you need is here.

Step one:
Pull the heart off of the stick then add some hot glue to the top of your container and attach the heart.

It should look something like this. My heart came out a little crooked but I think that add character does it not?

Step two: using any pattern you would like, glue the flat glitter hearts to the outside of the jar. Get creative here. Do all one color or mix it up. Cover the entire jar if you want
Step 3: You could add the 3d heart here if you want or do the entire lid first. This is just the order I used. I used some of the smaller red glitter hearts and glued them facing outwards. I suggest laying them out before gluing to make sure you like the pattern and that they all fit.

This is what mine turned out looking like.
Step four: fill the jar with whatever you want. I wanted to have mine on my vanity but you could fill it with just about anything.
I placed mine on my vanity. It adds a bit of warm color.

Hope you enjoyed this DIY.
XOXO, Cheyenne

DIY: chic skull decor

Punk and grunge are back in a big way. Skulls are everywhere. They're on scarves (Alexander McQueen anyone?) bags, everywhere and they're not just for Halloween. If you've been on Tumblr or Pinterest lately you've seen these chicly decorated skulls. Put them at the end of your shelves or on a stack of books. Wherever you put it, you'll have a super chic decoration.

So lets's get started in making one of these bad boys. You'll need: matte black spray paint, glitter glue, a plastic skull ( you should be able to find them at one of those pop up Halloween stores or your dollar store,) and some paintbrushes or sponges to apply the glitter.

First off you're going to want to spray the skull with an even layer of black spray paint. Do this outside or lay down something to protect the surface you're working on.

Wait for the paint to dry and you should have a matte black skull.

Make sure you cover the bottom and back too. Add a second coat if it's too sheer or you missed some spots.

Once the paint has dried, mix your glitters and apply a few coats of it.
