5 DIY Last Minute Halloween Costumes

I really don't like halloween. I know, I know who doesn't like halloween? Adults who are too old to trick or treat and too young to die.

Now if you don't hate halloween you're going to need a costume. If you're anything like me, you completely forgot about that party you had to go to until like, 10 minutes before.

I found some great DIY halloween costumes made out of clothes you probably already have.

DIY: Ombre picture frame

I love ombre. I really do. Sometimes it seems like the trend is dying out and those still rocking it are kind of tacky. The classic ombre (smooth, seamless gradient) is what I'm talking about, not the stripes in different colors. Whoever decided that that would count as ombre needs a head check.

I think ombre is a great way to add color when decorating because you can add two colors to tie into your pillows or art or couches or whatever. I have a huge tapestry of a jungle on my wall and it has a ton of green. I don't love green and don't have a lot of it around so I wanted to add something green.

The process of ombre is sort of self explanatory. Basically all you do is choose 2 spray paints and paint opaque towards the outer parts and mrs sheerly and thin towards the center.

I took the paper insert out of a picture frame and taped the back to a box. Spray painting is best done on something off the ground so I set it on an old beer box but seriously anything will work. The paper  just needs to be elevated.

I started spraying the green on one end.

You can see how it fade from heavy on the outside to lighter on the inside.

I continued to add more paint until it was half covered.

Now start from the opposite side and repeat the same process.

So now we have green fading from heavy to light on one end and blue grey fading from heavy to light from the other side.
Once you have both side completed like the photo above, there should be a blank-ish area in the center. You're going to want to go back and forth from each color and spray the green into the blue then the blue into the green.

You want to make sure that the colors are mixed in the center and don't have a rough line.

DIY chevron wall art

I bought this mirror at the thrift store for 99¢ and I knew I could do something cool with it. I decided to make in into a mirrored chevron piece for my wall since it was really scratched up. I taped in a chevron pattern like this:

You will need to cut piece of tape all the same length then around 5 with an angle to place along the edge. Then follow the pattern above. Tape off the side of the mirror then spray with spray paint of your choosing. When you peel away the tape, you will have little stripes.

Once you let the paint dry and have the tape peeled off, you can add a string across the back to hang it but mine already had one.

DIY cookie dough larabars

I love Larabars so much. They have between 2-5 ingredients and are the perfect after workout treat. I don't love the price though. As soon as I found out how few natural, real ingredients they had, I knew I could make them myself.

Really all they are is dates, nuts and whatever flavor they are. The chocolate chip cookie dough is my absolute flavor so I bought the ingredients and made them up.

Ingredients:

2 cups cashews
1 cup/ ~17 dates
chocolate chips
*i used a few peanuts because I had just under 2 cups of cashews

I boiled about half a cup of cashews at a time and blended them. You don't need to do it this way if you have a food processor but I was using my nutribullet.

Next, I cut up and pitted my dates until I had a full cup of them. If you don't want to measure, I found it took me 17 dates to make a cup so between 15-20 depending on how sweet you want them. I wish I used a bit less so they were slightly less sweet.

I blended my dates until they turned into this giant clump of sticky goop.
 * Here is where I used some peanuts just to fill out the amount of cashews. I normally just use cashews but this didn't change the flavor too much.

I put this in just to tell you that you can sub in some other nuts if you don't love cashews.

Finally, I combined everything with my hands until a ball of couch had formed. All that is left to do it pop this in the fridge to harden up a bit and cut them into bars or bites or whatever you want.

If you make the bars into the normal size of actual Larabars, you should wind up with around 14 bars.

DIY ombre flower vases

WHAT?! OMG is this real? Am I actually doing a new DIY post. It has has been 1, 2, no 3 no... it has been a very long time since I have done a DIY post. Don't worry, I'll still be keeping up with my OOTD posts but I will be getting back into makeup reviews, DIYs and that sort of stuff. I MISS MAKING THINGS. In my heart and mind, there are never enough Pinterest DIYs.

I have a bunch of these little flower vases (filled with faux flower... who can keep real ones alive?) on my table in my room. I have 2 ombre ones... I'll show you the other one soon enough. This was so so easy to make.

All I needed was a tall glass. You can use old candle jars, or jelly jars or really anything. You also need spray paint and some wind. What? wind? Yes wind.

As you can see from the photos, I sprayed the glass upside down and closer to it then further away as I got further up. You will need to stand in a way that the wind will carry the spray paint onto the glass. For the very top portion, I stood super far away, but close enough for it to hit, and let the wind take it.

Who knew ombre was that easy? Not me until I figured it out.

♡Here is the finished project. Hope you love it. Thanks for reading

OH AND PS IF YOU'RE READING THIS STAY TUNED BECAUSE I HAVE A TON MORE DIYS COMING SOON.

DIY: non-slip hangers

I love clothes and I have a lot that seem to fall right off the hanger. You can buy those felt hangers that are super expensive or you can use those little string loops on some shirts but those are annoying and get tangled. I have found a super easy way to make your own non-slip hangers.

You're going to need some hangers, an old shirt, and some scissors.
Here is the finished product.

Start off by cutting the very bottom of shirt off. You should have a giant loop. I cut off about two loops for the whole hanger but it may take more or less depending on how stretchy your fabric is.

A tip i have is to try to cut the fabric with about a 1 cm thickness. Any more and it won't stretch enough and any less and you risk it ripping and ruining everything.

This next part is some serious stress relief. Grab the loop of shirt and stretch it as much as you can. As you can see from the photo, it almost triples in size.

Cut the loop so that you have a long string of fabric.
Tie the string around the hook part of the hanger and make sure it is secure.

Start wrapping the string around the hanger until you run out of string.

You want to keep the string pulled tight and keep doing this until you come to the end of the string. At this point you will tie the other string we cut to the first. Then continue wrapping until the hanger is covered.

The cloth from the old shirt will help to hold the garment in pace on the Hanger.

This is a great alternative of nice clothes on the floor of your closet of creases and wrinkles from folding them.

How to stretch out shoes

Do you ever come across a shoe aisle and find a pair you need? Then you notice they're on sale so you really need them? But then they only have a 7 1/2 or 8 1/2 but you wear an 8? Because this happens to me constantly. Maybe a normal person would just sigh and walk away but how can you leave behind the world's cutest shoes that are on sale for $25?! Really I'm asking because I can't. When this happens I always buy the smaller size and stretch them out.

Today I'm going to teach you have to stretch your shoes.

Method 1
You will need:
The shoes that are too small
Thick socks- at least 2 pairs but the more the better (I'll explain later)
A hot blow dryer

Put on your socks. You want the have one pair for now. This will start the stretching process. Put the shoes on. This may be difficult because they're already too small and you've just crammed a big socked foot into them.
Now turn on the hair dryer on high and move it around the outside of the shoes. Try to move your feet in any way you can to get the leather more pliable. Do this for a bit and make sure to move the dryer around. You don't want to burn your shoes or your feet.
See how well the shoes fit without the socks on. If you still need them stretched more, throw on the first pair of socks then a second and repeat the process.

Method 2
One of my friends taught me this one forever ago and this work if you don't have the time to sit around blow drying your feet but do have overnight.

You will need:
The shoes that are too small
Plastic ziploc bags
Water

All you need to do for this method is to take a bag and fill it halfway with water. Next squeeze all the excess air out and place the bag in the shoe. I normal double bag it just for extra measure. Now throw your shoes in the freezer overnight and the water will freeze and expand.

Spicy peanut noodles recipe

ljb

Ramen, Sriracha, and peanut butter. What could go wrong?
I'm in college. I try to avoid ramen but somehow its in my cabinet. It's not really good. I mean it costs like 35¢ a pack. I found this recipe online somewhere forever ago and its really pretty good. This turns out something like thai peanut noodles or cold sesame noodles depending on how much of everything you put in. I know you can just buy a pack of those for less than all the ingredients but think of how many times you can make this.

You will need:
1 pack of ramen
~2 tbsp peanut butter*
~2 tbsp sriracha*
salt
*you can adjust these to your liking. I like a little more sriracha and a little less peanut butter.

-Start by making a pack of ramen according to the instructions provided then dump out the water.
-Add the peanut butter, sriracha, and salt

-Stir it really well. It can be difficult to stir the peanut butter but keep mixing until its well combined.

-Enjoy

DIY body chain

Body chains are becoming so trendy. Celebrities like Rihanna and Vanessa Hudgens have seen spotted wearing these. I wanted one but they can be crazy expensive. I found a way to make my own.

All you will need is some old necklaces that you can take the pendant off of. How many you need depends on how long the chains are, how big you are, what you want the body chain to look like, etc. I would up using 3 necklaces and one chain bracelet.

I chose a mix of sliver and one gold necklace. The lengths all vary.

You want to attach two necklaces to make one long circle. Then do the same thing with the other two. You should have two very long chain necklaces. Take on of the clasps and attach the two so that theres two connected long necklaces as pictured above.

I strung mine so that one side hanging down is silver and the other is gold.

You could also spray paint some of the chains to add some color.

That's it! Now you have your body chain.

I like to wear this under a cropped shirt or over a normal shirt.

DIY vintage looking glass

Mercury glass and frosted glass are both so beautiful. They look old and vintage. I could spend all of my money on mercury glass. That's the problem; it costs so much money. Anthropologie sells so many types of little class jars and such but why the hell is a little glass jar $89?! I figured there had to be a way to do it myself so after testing out a few different techniques, (some worked some well they're not this post) I found such an easy way to do it. Depending on how you do this they may turn out differently. Some have turned out looking like mercury glass others look frosted.  Best thing is that you probably already have most of the supplies.

You will need:

• Cleaned out candle jars- if you don't know how to clean them out, I have a quick and easy way to do this here
• Metallic spray paint and flat spray paint
• Hairspray

First I coated the entire inside of the jar with a thin layer of sliver metallic spray paint.

Next, at random I sprayed hair spray. You want to do this while the spray paint is still wet. The alcohol in the hairspray will break apart the paint and give that chipped and spattered look.

After you spray it, tip the jar over and shake it to get out the excess paint and hairspray.

For the second one, I coated it with flat white spray paint.

Then I repeated the silver layer and hair spray to the inside.

I wanted the outside of the jars to be coated as well. I tipped them upside down, to drain out the excess again and to coat all parts of the jars. I repeated the whole process of spraying with flat white, metallic sliver, and hairspray.

Finally, let the jars sit out for about ~30 or until they are completely dry.

Healthy and easy homemade ice cream- only 2 ingredients

Everyone made their New Year's resolution to eat healthier right? And you could totally handle until you found some ice cream in the freezer and binge ate the entire carton while watching The Notebook. I have a really easy recipe that only requires 2 ingredients. I'm not saying this is necessarily healthy but that may depend on your take of healthy food. This is not clean or raw or vegan or anything like that but its so much better than Ben and Jerrys (sorry I know I love them too) or Breyers. It takes similar to ice cream or gelato.

You're only going to need frozen fruit (I think mango works the best) and cool whip. You can use the fat free or any variation of it.

Take them out of the freezer and let them soften just a little.

Next throw these into your Nutribullet/blender/food processor. I use my nurtibullet but any kitchen gadget of this type will work. Add one heaping tablespoon of cool whip per handful of mango.

Blend it, scraping the sides often. You can blend this for longer if you want is really smooth or for less if you want a few chunks in it. 30 seconds give or take will be fine.

Throw the mixture back in the freezer for a few minutes. While the fruit is being blended I find it sometimes thaws a bit too much.
Now enjoy your healthier whipped fruit dessert. Feel free to add some chopped nuts or any other healthy topping.

*note I do not own the images in this post.

♡ DIY Valentine's Day heart Wreath ♡

I made this quick little wreath for Valentine's day. This is something that you can create quickly and cheaply.

You'll need table scatter hearts. I used the same one from my last Valentine's day diy. Valentine's day jars. You'll also need some kind of wire and glue.

♡ Start out by tracing a circle onto something.

♡ Trace this onto something sturdy. I used a paper bag. You're going to be gluing around this.

♡ Grab your hearts and lay them out around the circle. This will ensure that your wreath lies flat and looks perfect.

♡ Doing this will also help you to create your pattern and make sure that it will fit the way you want it to.

♡ As you can see, I alternated red to pink and overlapped them.

♡ Once you've laid them out, begin gluing.

♡ Glue a piece then the next one.

♡ You will wind up with a floppy circle of hearts. They will be all connected though.
♡ Break out the hot glue once more and grab your wire.

♡ I found it easiest to bend the wire into a perfect circle that fit around the wreath.

♡ After that, I cut the wire into 4 parts. This makes it so much easier to glue.

♡ Don't worry if it looks messy. The wire is on the back and it will never be seen.

♡ Finally you can attach it to the wall. Sine the hearts have a naturally pointed gap in between, I slipped it over a nail but you could use some ribbon instead.
